FAQs

The zodiac is divided along the ecliptic into 12 equal parts (signs), each occupying 30° of celestial longitude. These signs roughly correspond to the astronomical constellations with the following modern names: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.
The order of appearance of the astrological signs in the annual calendar is therefore as follows: Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius.
Zodiac sign dates:
  • Aries: March 21 – April 19.
  • Taurus: April 20 – May 20.
  • Gemini: May 21 – June 21.
  • Cancer: June 22 – July 22.
  • Leo: July 23 – August 22.
  • Virgo: August 23 – September 22.
  • Libra: September 23 – October 23.
  • Scorpio: October 24 – November 21.
Earth actually travels through 13 signs, including Capricorn, Aries, and, yes, Ophiuchus, but some 3,000 years ago the Babylonians—not NASA—decided 12 was neater than 13, so excluded the 13th zodiac sign and divided the zodiac into 12 parts based on the 12 months of their calendar, according to NASA.
Chances are, someone has asked you about your big three. That's astrological shorthand for your sun, moon, and rising signs, also known as an ascendant.
